Sigh, LJ seems to like dumping me so here I am posting again.
Life goes on much as usual except now must find new Roomie, try to get a job, and hope
building management allows me to stay here.
Roomie came into inheritance and is buying a house and moving to Texas.
So, I'm now in the hot seat so to speak.
Wish me luck all.
Deep sigh.

Greetings All,
I've been remiss in not posting but life, that Kevlar armored gorilla, was engaged in jumping up and down on top of me.
Wasn't able to find work, ran out of unemployment, and ended up having to move before I got evicted from my apartment. Sigh.
A friend let me move into her back room with my kitties and lots of boxes of books. That was very kind of her.
I give her what money I can spare and I take care of taking out the rubbish, do the dishes, do the laundry, and assorted other things.
I also try to ignore her politics. She's very rabid and vocal about her beliefs which ARE NOT mine.
She's also an incipient hoarder. (Why me??) What fun. (NOT)
Then, unfortunately, I had to put one of my kitties to sleep. Lady, my little talker. I had to borrow the money to do it but I wasn't going to let her be miserable.
Well it's a new year let us hope for better. Wishing you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year. Also Happy Chinese New Year - the Year of the Dragon.
Cheers,
Fran

Sorry I haven't posted before now but life, in the form of a 800 pound gorilla wearing Kevlar body armor, sorta got in the way.
Trying to find work, make money, and just generally take care of things. Sigh. Not so easy these days.
I have skill sets just not what most people want. Double sigh.
Am too short, too old, not pretty, and not slim. Triple sigh.
Think I'll go watch something funny on DVD. I need a good laugh!

Greetings All,
I hope that everyone is having a great Memorial Day Weekend. While you're enjoying it - you might take some time out to remember the men and women who, by serving their country, have allowed you to enjoy this weekend.
I'm not a "My country - love it or leave it" type. I think America is a great place but it does have problems. But that's neither here nor there. The men and women of our Armed Forces serve us and serve us loyally and valiantly no matter what the cost. You may not like everything they do but without them we would be a much different country.
Just think of places where the Internet is censored or there is no internet, no free speech, and many other places that would make the average American run for cover.
So, regardless of your political beliefs please stop and remember those who gave everything that we could have so much.
Okay, I'll get off of my soapbox now. (Just for your info - my father was in the Pacific theater in WWII - Infantry. Not a real willing or a great soldier but he served.)

Was just over on Icanhascheezburger.com. One of my favorite sites. Always good for a laugh or an "awww, isn't that cute". Anyway, saw an ad for a new online game. At least I'm assuming it was an online game. I don't play them so wouldn't know for sure. Anyway, female character (what else is new) wearing space armor in black but the whole center of her torso is open with bare flesh. Why don't you just paint a bullseye on her chest and leave it at that. Jeepers.
Having taken advertising design in College I know what the artist is doing. Trying to draw in the young male game player crowd. That said, the outfit doesn't make sense for someone who just might be in a running battle. Like Red Sonja's chain mail bikini. That really doesn't make any sense at all. Chain mail pinches, rubs, and rusts - not something you want to be wearing without padding.
Yeah, I know, I'm being unrealistic. The thing is that some artists like Jody Lee or the late Frank Kelly Freas could do female warriors without making you think they were suicidal or really stupid. And you don't want to start me on artsy fartsey costumes or set designs in movies or TV - that's good for a couple of hours of ranting.
As Gilmore would say - rant is over - for now. More later I expect.

I have to get used to LJ. By nature I'm a private person so I'm not truly comfortable pouring my heart and secrets out in print.
Telling a friend one on one is one thing - LJ is entirely different.
That said - saw WOLVERINE tonight. Costumes aren't much to write home about, but then, as one costume designer said - if she's truly doing her job well you won't notice her costumes. You'll be concentrating on the characters not what they're wearing.
Story was a touch thin but Hugh Jackman more than made up for it. He is, as they say, a fine looking man.
A friend was head of Special Effects on the movie and says that Jackman is not only a consummate professional (arrives ready to work and does whatever you need him too without whining about anything) but is genuinely a nice man. He would show up on Friday with his pocket full of the New Zealand form of lottery scratcher tickets and hand them out to all the crew just because. Trust me, this is not the norm for Hollywood.

This is my first LJ entry, so pardons for any goofs. Am not quite a Luddite but Twitters, FaceBook, and Blogs are exotic and unknown animals to me. I suspect this will be a steep learning curve.
My good friend Gilmore set up this account for me. Many thanks Gilmore. However I will get you for the "before Radio" quip.
I think I quit while I'm ahead.
Madottercat.
